Agronomy in Action: Your Front-Row Seat to Answer Plot 2025

WinField United Canada
What’s your best kept secret? We have one – and it’s kind of a big deal. For WinField® United Canada, it’s the not-so-hidden gem Answer Plot® field scale trial site. Located East of Saskatoon, Answer Plot is a research site dedicated to agronomic learning and evaluation. Since 2018, WinField United has been using Answer Plot to showcase the latest and greatest innovations, along with agronomy training demos. The lineup for 2025 is ready to impress, providing knowledge that will fill agronomists’ investigative cups long after harvest is complete.

Answer Plot Tours

Serving as a host ground for a firsthand site visit to innovation, Answer Plot becomes an industry leading tour ground each year in the middle of July. With the WinField United team leading the charge, attendees are treated to a fantastic combination of knowledge and food over a half-day tour.

What makes this tour different than other industry events? Answer Plot goes the extra mile to bring forward demonstrations that are relevant for all level of agronomy experts, whether your journey is just beginning or have decades of experience. The site is seeded later than usual, allowing crops to hit the ideal stage come tour time, to showcase the effects of various products. Most tours talk about how a new herbicide or fungicide works – Answer Plot stands out by showing attendees the real effect, in real time, in a real field.

Trial Data Capture

No product ever comes to market with a line of “try this, it doesn’t work”. Every registered product works somewhere, under a specific set of conditions. Answer Plot aims to find answers to what those conditions are, so you can have confidence selling your growers solutions. Answer Plot is an opportunity to consistently capture local, relevant data on how a product or seed hybrid performs. This is a story about far more than just yield, with in-season trial measurements and data capture throughout the growing season to help explain why, or why not, a yield difference occurred. Trials are taken to harvest and weighed for differences between treatments. Knowing this full scope of information allows WinField United and their independent ag retail partners (and growers) to have an extra degree of confidence in the results that are garnered. This information is then disseminated to retails over the fall and winter months, starting with the Agronomy Academy in November.

What Does Answer Plot 2025 Have in Store?

Trials this year feature a plethora of different product types. Let’s dig in further:

  1. Canola Hybrid Trials - CROPLAN® hybrids in both LibertyLink® and TruFlex as well as the latest Brevant® hybrids will be compared to industry standards to see how they stack up against some of the biggest names in the industry.
  2. Canola Shatter Trials - WinField United is pleased to take a real-world approach to determining how the pod integrity of various hybrids really stack up in real world conditions. Hybrids are left standing around six weeks post desiccation, which is well past ideal straight-cut timing to see how much yield is lost. This provides a solid degree of confidence in how hybrids will perform under the toughest pod shatter conditions.
  3. Canola Seed Treatment Trials - Flea beetles, cutworms, and blackleg are problems no one needs. Answer Plot is comparing three seed treatment options, with and without foliar insecticide, to determine which has the best power against early season pests, and whether that ultimately has a yield impact.
  4. Biosolutions - When it comes to finding answers in the biosolutions space, WinField United is committed to the 3E approach – Educate, Evaluate, and Elevate. Data from the biosolutions trials at Answer Plot will help generate insights on crop response to biosolutions, understand their modes-of-action, and help elevate successful product positioning. All trials compare an untreated check (UTC) to these novel products. In 2025, there are five different biosolutions trials being run:
  • Granular phosphorous trial with MAP impregnation – three different biosolution offerings are being impregnated onto MAP fertilizer to see if phos uptake can be improved in the plant with their use, both at high and low MAP rates.
  • Seed treatments on both wheat and canola – Comparing two different biosolutions products treated directly onto the seed to help the plant overcome early season stress and improve nutrient uptake.

  • Foliar trials in wheat and canola – Biosolutions products will be applied in-crop with performance compared among treatments and taken to yield.

  1. Industry Demos - Attendees at the Answer Plot tours this year will see a showcase of treatments and products from KOCH™ Agronomic Services, UPL, Corteva AgriScience™, Gowan®, NuFarm, and ADAMA. Expect to see information and learnings on wild oat management, herbicide layering and resistance management, pre-emergent herbicide options, soil health, a variety of spray demos, and more!

See it. Believe It. Apply It.
