The Journey 5km by WinField United Canada run/walk was created to support mental health and combat burnout of staff and partners heading into the busy growing season. Participants simply sign up, run/walk 5 km, have open discussions about mental health, and check in with family, friends and co-workers.

We did it! Thank you for helping reach our $20K donation goal!

HOW WE DO MORE.

We are champions for the mental wellbeing of those in the Canadian agriculture industry and are changing the culture of Agriculture to one where all are encouraged, supported and empowered to take care of their mental wellbeing.

Agriculture is an industry with a foundation of deep rural roots, hard work, resilience, strength and community. In order to uphold that image, those traits can also be the industry’s weakness as they become barriers for speaking up and seeking help. Those in the Canadian agriculture industry are among the most vulnerable when it comes to mental health issues. Stress, anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion and burnout are all high in the industry. By collaborating with the entire industry and those working to address the state of mental health in Agriculture, we can and will make a substantial impact!

Prize categories include:

  • SOCIAL BUTTERFLIES

Patty Soloducha (ADAMA) fluttered her social wings and shared her Journey before and during the event! The runner-up in this category is Mike Gerhardt (FMC)!

  • SOCIAL STAR

We couldn’t pick just one social star this year! Mitch Nesbitt (ADAMA) and Cheri Jeworski (ADAMA) got social and really warmed our hearts from start to finish.  With an honourable mention going to the ADAMA team for getting social out there to raise awareness about mental health in ag.

  • FAMILY AFFAIR

We LOVED seeing all the families out this year! It’s no easy feat to wrangle kids, pets, and bikes/strollers/wagons, etc. all together to do 5km (especially if the weather wasn’t in agreement)! You are all absolute stars! Thank you for showing up for mental health in ag! Congrats to our winners Priscilla Cole’s family (NexusBioAg) and the Veikle Agro Team who danced their way through 5km! With our runner-ups Alan Christison’s family (Gowan) and Ambrely Ralph’s family (ADAMA)! Way to go!

  • CANINE COMPANIONS

Anna Suharenko (NexusBioAg) and her good pup know that furry friends make 5k’s a lot more fun. Our runner up was Philip Northover (Gowan) and his pup! Both happy 🐕’s were spotted getting in #WinFieldJourneyforAg! There were many more doggos that participated, brought smiles and put in way more than 5km. Make sure they get all the treats and well deserved pets - 12/10 good pups!

  • MANUFACTURER MOJO

This year our manufacturer partners came to play! Team Gowan got behind the importance of mental health for their team, rallied employees, friends and family, and created a new record with 101 participants! This team gets some well-deserved bragging rights! Runner-ups in this category who also dug in and worked hard were Team ADAMA with 62 participants and Team Nexus BioAg with 51 participants. Way to go - a tip of the cap to you! Let’s all up our game next year!

  • SLOW AND STEADY

The slow and steady winner is Juli Jessen (Gowan) who went above and beyond, walking 5.02 Miles and rocking a total time of 2:24:01 (Magic math says she took around 1:29:00 to walk 5km). Runner up goes to Amanda Wilkins (WinField United Canada) and her family with a rocking total time of 1:24:18, a lot of laughs, and quality time together because slow and steady wins the race!
A shout-out to our toddler participants who were sidetracked by playgrounds and those who were sidelined by the weather! You captured the spirit of the event and we’re so glad you took part!

  • SPEED DEMON

Our speediest lady, reigning champion for the third year in a row was Wendy Schlottke (FMC Spouse) (20:33) and our runner-up was Lauren Wensley (SeCan) (23:54)!

Our speediest man, claiming the title by 7 seconds is Tyler Gullen (Nufarm) (18:50) and our runner-up was Neal Renwick (WinField United Canada Spouse) (18:57)!

Kuddos Speed Demons, your speed makes our heart skip a beat (literally though)! 🔥

A huge thank-you to our sponsors
